These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of NGO Jobs Africa at jobs.ngoportal.africa (the "Site") and our related emails, alerts and WhatsApp channel. By using the Site, creating an account, buying a pass or adding money to your account you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Who we are and what we do
NGO Jobs Africa is an opportunity platform for development, humanitarian, nonprofit and social impact work, operated from Keystone Park, Riverside Drive, Nairobi, Kenya. We publish and link to jobs, consultancies, internships, fellowships, volunteer roles, scholarships, training, grants and tenders offered by other organisations. Unless a listing clearly says otherwise, we are not the employer, funder or contracting authority. We do not make hiring, funding or award decisions and we are not a recruitment agency.
2. Listings and their accuracy
Listings come from official sources and from organisations that post with us. We link each listing to its original notice where possible, check the organisation, deadline and application route, merge duplicate copies and mark listings closed when their deadline passes. Organisations can change or withdraw opportunities at any time, so the original notice is always the authoritative version. Please confirm deadlines, eligibility and requirements with the organisation before applying. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on a listing.
3. Free features and members-only content
Search, saved opportunities, job alerts, the weekly email and our WhatsApp channel are free. Some opportunity types are members-only: the Site shows that the opportunity exists, with some details hidden, and the full details and application link are available with an active Opportunities Pass. We may change which opportunity types are members-only. Listings an organisation pays to promote are open to everyone.
4. The Opportunities Pass
- Plans and prices. Passes are offered for 3 days (USD 1, first pass only), 30 days (USD 3.75), 90 days (USD 9) and 12 months (USD 33.75). Prices are shown in US dollars before you pay and may change. A price change never affects a pass you have already bought.
- The 3-day pass. The 3-day pass is a one-time offer for new members, limited to one per person, phone number and email address, and cannot be combined with coupons. If a person who has already had it pays for it again, the payment is kept as credit in their account balance and no new 3-day pass is started (see section 5).
- Payment. Payments are made by M-Pesa or by Visa or Mastercard. Card payments are handled by a licensed card payment processor. Amounts are charged in Kenya shillings at the rate shown at checkout and rounded up to the nearest whole shilling. Your pass starts when payment is confirmed.
- Duration. A pass runs for the number of days bought. If you buy another pass while one is active, the new days are added to the end of your current pass. We email you 24 hours before a pass ends.
- Personal use. A pass is for one person. You must not share your login details, resell access, or copy, republish or distribute members-only content.
- No guarantee of selection. A pass gives access to information and official application routes only. It does not guarantee an interview, a job, a contract or funding.
5. Account balance, prefunding and automatic renewal
- Your balance. Your account balance is money you have already paid that is waiting to be used on an Opportunities Pass. It comes from prefunding your account or from a repeat 3-day pass payment, and it is held in US dollars.
- Prefunding. You can add USD 1 to USD 500 to your balance in My Account by M-Pesa or card. The amount is added once payment is confirmed.
- Use. Your balance is applied automatically to your next 30-day, 90-day or 12-month pass at checkout. If it covers the full price, no payment is taken; otherwise you pay the difference. It cannot be used for the 3-day pass.
- Automatic renewal. Automatic renewal is off unless you turn it on and choose a plan. When it is on and your pass ends, the pass renews from your balance only if the balance covers the full price of the chosen plan. We email you a receipt for each renewal, and if your balance is short we email you 3 days before your pass ends and again on the day. You can change or switch off automatic renewal at any time. The 3-day pass never renews.
- No automatic charges. We never charge your M-Pesa or card without your confirmation. Automatic renewal only uses money already in your balance.
- Conditions. Your balance stays on your account until you use it. It cannot be withdrawn as cash from the Site, transferred to another person or exchanged for anything other than an Opportunities Pass. Every change to your balance is shown in My Account under Payments & credit. If we correct a balance, the change is recorded there.
6. Referral programme
- Members who have bought at least one pass receive a personal referral link.
- When a new member buys a pass through that link, the referrer receives free days on their own pass according to the reward table on Refer and Earn. At the date of these Terms the rewards are 2 days for a 3-day pass, 7 days for a 30-day pass, 14 days for a 90-day pass and 30 days for a 12-month pass. If the friend moves from the 3-day pass to a longer pass within 60 days, the reward is topped up to the higher level.
- Each new member counts once. No reward is given for purchases made with the referrer's own phone number or email, for a phone number or email that has already had the 3-day pass, for people who bought a pass before using the link, or for cancelled orders. Rewards for cancelled orders are removed.
- Free days have no cash value and cannot be transferred. We may withhold or remove rewards, and close accounts, where we reasonably believe the programme has been misused, for example through multiple accounts or false identities.
- We may change the rewards or end the programme at any time. Rewards already credited are not affected.
7. Alerts, emails and the WhatsApp channel
Job alerts and the weekly email are sent to the address you give us and can be paused or stopped at any time. While your pass is active, job alerts include members-only opportunities. Our WhatsApp channel is provided through WhatsApp, whose own terms and privacy policy apply. Offer emails are sent only if you opt in.
8. Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old and give accurate information.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity on your account.
- We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, post misleading content, misuse the referral programme or put other users at risk.
9. Rules for organisations
- You must be authorised to post on behalf of the organisation, and every listing must be a real, current opportunity with an accurate title, location, deadline, eligibility and application method.
- You must never charge applicants a fee, collect personal data for unrelated purposes, or include requirements that are unlawful in the country concerned.
- You must comply with applicable employment, procurement, data protection and anti-fraud laws and handle applicants' personal data lawfully.
- Featured and sponsored placements are clearly labelled and do not change how we check listings. Fees for paid products are shown before purchase.
- We may edit a listing for clarity or format, add source information, or decline or remove any listing at our discretion.
10. Acceptable use
You must not post false, fraudulent or unlawful content; impersonate any person or organisation; scrape, copy or harvest listings or personal data; attempt to bypass the members-only system or other security measures; send spam; upload malicious code; or use the Site in any way that harms other users or its operation.
11. Intellectual property
The design of the Site, the text we write, our compilations of listings and our software belong to NGO Jobs Africa or our licensors. Organisation names and logos belong to their owners and are shown only to identify the organisation offering an opportunity. By posting content you confirm that you have the right to do so and give us a non-exclusive licence to host, display and distribute it on the Site, in alerts, in emails and on our social channels while it is published.
12. Third-party services
Listings link to websites and application systems we do not control. Payments are processed through Safaricom M-Pesa and, for card payments, a licensed card payment processor. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.
13. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we give no warranty that listings are complete, current or error free, or that the Site will always be available, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss or for loss arising from your dealings with employers, funders or other third parties. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to a paid service is limited to the amount you paid for that service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Indemnity
If you post content or use the Site in breach of these Terms, you agree to compensate us for reasonable losses and costs arising from claims by others.
15. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal data.
16. Changes
We may update these Terms or change, add or remove features. The date at the top shows the current version. Material changes will be announced on the Site or by email, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
